Library furnish by Pal Spencer. Notice
that each county used different age categories.
COMMENTS BY PAL: David was Pal's ggf, the son of James Brasel who was murdered in Tennessee. Robert and William were brothers of James. There was also a Valentine Braswell (brother of Robert, William and James) in Illinois at this time, but doubtlessly living with Nancy Journey, the widow of his friend John Journey, in Bond County, neighbors to his son Richard Brazel. About this time, Valentine and Nancy were tried and found guilty of living together without benefit of marriage. They were fined $48 and committed to jail for 12 months or until the fine was paid. Never could find a record where they were married, but they had three daughters, lived out the rest of their life together and are buried beside each other.
