REVOLUTIONARY WAR MAJOR BATTLES - Most of our ancestors were in state militias, a few in the Continental forces and some were Tories. A Tory was an American upholding the cause of the British Crown. It is estimated that 25% of Americans were Tories. Most were exiled after the war. Militia enlistments were short. The same person might appear in 2 musters and with different companies.
