REVOLUTIONARY WAR (and other Colonial Wars)
Most of the Braswells who served in the North Carolina Line were in the 10th Regiment of Continentals. A whole group of North Carolina patriots served in militia units. Militia enlistments were usually no more than a few months.

REVOLUTIONARY WAR BATTLES - Most of our ancestors were in state militias,
a few in the Continental forces and some were Tories. A Tory was an
American upholding the cause of the British Crown. It is estimated that
25% of Americans were Tories. Most were exiled after the war.
